LOL indeed, Would i be right in saying most of the oil throw is occuring in the cam cover`s, due to the engines flat layout.dynamix wrote:I think a baffled sump will help the situation with oil surge or cavitation but that isnt really what is happening here.
The only problem that my current (un drained) solution causes is when the catch can fills up. It hardly catches a thing on normal road useage, just long high g corners and the money saved by not having to drain and throw away the oil will pay for the mod

Ill stand corrected then matey lol, is this a common problem on scoobs then?dynamix wrote:nope - the cam covers (on mine at least) seem to be pretty well baffled from what i am told. Most of the oil throw is from the main crankshaft breather.

Yes mate makes sense, think ill use the normal catch can setup on mine then if i find any similar problems maybe adapt the same method as you, cant wait to get it finished and out on a track, will be my first time, would of loved to make the track virgins day, but alas lol.dynamix wrote:not common from what i have seen although not uncommon as a few guys have had to solve the issue (if that makes sense)

Mapping for 103 Octane
I have been very reliably informed that mapping for 103 octane should be good for another 20bhp ish (maybe more) ... which is nice
Certainly enough of a difference to notice and make it worth my while changing the maps over 8)

Booked in for Catch Can to sump drain and RCM Catch Can fitting at APT.
Also doing some fluid changes for me as part of normal major service and removing the backing plates from my brakes to help cooling.
This should hopefully be most of it done then and allow for a bit of settling in of stuff before heading up to Cadwell to try it all out.
Just some Yoko A048's to acquire and see what they are like and bob's your auntie 8)

Alyn at ASP the one-stop shop is sorting out a bundle of goodies for me too - as soon as I get a few minutes to ring him with a Ccard handy

Dunc,
Im sorry mate - but until I see some documented evidence that a fuel additive like that can increase ron by that much then Im going to be sceptical. I would be very careful assuming its 103 and increasing the advance - but then Im sure gary is just as sceptical as I am.
I believe the only thing that could enhance RON that much is a Tolly mix, which is illegal for sale in the UK.
