I'm looking at getting a cheap track car and cant decide what would be best so i decided to look at the pictures of previous track days to get an idea of what people are using and saw this , but i'm not sure what it is ??
Its the black and silver nissan D reg in this lot of pictures http://www.takemypic.co.uk/galleries/snettbigpow/
Or if anybody has a sugestion as to what would make a good track car , (
whats this car ??
Yeah, Trev is spot on on both fronts. It is an S12 or Silvia powered by an 1800 turbo lump. Rear wheel drive goodness and plenty of rust to boot unless you are very fortunate. Cheap and fun, you could do a lot worse.

I answer to your second question about suitable track cars for less than a grand my top four would be (no particular order)
1) Pug 309 gti- cheaper to buy than its smaller 205 brother, but the same running gear and same fun levels

OOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
Now THAT is exactly what Im looking for !!!!!
As for the original question about the Silvia,
Its as mentioned earlier, an S12 turbo - 1800cc of Nissan finest Old Spice from back in the day, built by Bob at GBH and currently has around 260bhp from memory but weighs around 1ton and has AP 6pots and mahoosive brakes that are like hitting a wall. You wont buy a similar spec for a grand, but you could make a move in the right direction with it !!
I know of a couple of S12's that are for sale, and I think they even have a stock car that could have work done at GBH at the mo that they were toying with doing another track car with.
