Sierra Track Car Dyno'd - video added

Post by pablo »

Would like to start by saying Thank you for all your words of support and advice with our problem solving. Thank you

Took the car to be dyno'd today with our other club...She survived
Down to buisness finally we have a power graph, and video and to follow

Run was stopped at 4900rpm due to the car starting to pink, caused by fueling lean at the top end, this will be sorted next week :-D

Here are some pics of the track car, Al's XR4i and sierra Gt

Latest dyno graph, the bhp figure is the same but the torque has increased sligthly.
The main difference is that the power comes in a lot earlier.

Nice figures Pablo :thumb:

Most of the fun and been and gone by then on these old tanks so I normally short shift when on a track anyway and rely on the torque.

Al's GT looks mint. That photo must have been touched up with photoshop ;)

It was but now revs to 5800. The problem was a weak spark, too large a gap setting on the plugs.
Part of our problem has also been the excessive heat from the turbo causing unseen damage to the plug leads, plus our current set up of fueling though the seventh injector was over-fueling the right bank of cylinders. This is why we are now pushing to get the MF2 installed. This will give us much more control over the on boost fuelling and better distribution of the fuel into the cylinders.

Can you get a turbo jacket to heat proof the turbo?

We've just fitted another heat shield between the turbo and plug leads, plus we're going to double sleeve the plug leads on that side of the engine. Have also bought some Magnecor 8.5mm leads and ngk platinum plugs to cope with the heat.

I have looked into this but have heard comflicting reports on the benefits of turbo jackets. So more research will have to be done before a decision is made.
