Comparing a full on race prepared, works backed touring car costing hundreds of thousands of pounds to a road car, albeit a highly tuned and well prepared one is about as relevant as comparing to the same highly tuned and well prepared Evo to your works van Scott.

I am sure Gary would be honest enough to know that wasn't the perfect lap. With more commitment and a free riegn to 'bin it' there would be time gained on a few sections but this was a trackday not anything more.

The danger in measuring times and then analysing the shit out of it afterwards is that the fun disappears through the tyre wall..........followed by the car sometimes.

I think the laptime shows the car has potential to be much quicker and 1'18 in a road car is pretty bloody quick already.

In all fairness I dont think Scott is having a pop at Garys lap.

More that Dunk needs to get some more horsepower on his car to keep up.....what was the dyno reading again

Fairness goes out of my window when the only contributions made to the forum seem to be snipes from the safety of a go kart.

I am quite happy for anybody to criticise me an my efforts if they are happy to stand toe to toe and do what I do. If I post a quarter mile time and it's a bad launch, I have no problem if the person telling me that, is better than I am. If that same person has never been on a quarter mile track then I will have a problem. Applying that to several of your recent posts Scott, you seem more than happy to chip in with negative and derisory comments when you have little or no foundation to base this criticism on anything that YOU have done. If you want examples, just let me know. Tell you what just check some of your old posts, that will be easier.

We're all adults. This is nothing personal. I have the best interests of the near 500 users and the growing number of people that put their money and cars where their mouth is to protect and I intend to do it. Either join in, contribute to the forum in a constructive manner or sod off. I could have done this behind closed doors with PM's and MSN but you're like night and day when you're on there. I have chosen to post this publicy as 'a shot across the bows' as it were. This forum is about doing it. It was founded on the basis of 'walking the walk'. This applies to everyone in my opinion, no matter who you are or what background you are from.

Sorry this has turned into a lengthy rant but I have seen this brewing for a while and decided it was time to clear my throat.

Actually Dunc,

About 3-6mph in the Porsche last time me and Stuart checked. All this "speedos are miles out at the top end" bollox usually stems from cheap KMH to MPH converters, or older generation mass market motors with "lowest cost" inaccurate instruments fitted by the manufacturers. The Skyline was only about 7 or 8mph out at 180 too when I checked that a couple of times !!! From what I have seen and checked with my own GPS systems and cars/vans most modern vehicles are no more than 5% out, which makes sense seeing as the guidlines for police are 10% and full tyre wear from 8mm to 0mm is typically 1.5%.

I think the biggest factor is what Stuart says with the "bin it" mentality. I was scared to death of chucking the GT3 away, and I guess Gary is equally mindful of that with the Evo. I cant wait to get my hands on a 5k track weapon so that I can finally feel "free" and give it full beans without worrying too much about mistakes, that being said I will probably always be a pansy round Corum !!! :D :D :D

J.

PS - I heard a loud growl this morning - must of been Stu clearing his throat !!! :D
