I was a bit disappointed with my run. I think it was done in 3rd when it should have in 4th(found out after asking someone with an infinate more of knowledge of engines than me) :oops:

It was good to talk to some people too. I look forward to seeing RX7 go round Snetterton.

james why should it have been done in 4th??? the people who make the dyno say 3rd not 4th

in most case's running in 4th gear make less power on our dyno

I've been to WRC Developements, at Silverstone, a couple of times on dyno shootouts. They run in third and say they've done testing and found there's little or no difference to fourth.

Personally and based on nothing, other than perceived mechanical sympathy, I prefer third as it seems to put a load on the engine for much less time.

I don't know that it's a 6 speed would make any differance?

Oops! In that case maybe fourth isn't so bad. :oops: It's the fault of metrication!

I can't think in half dozens anymore :D

Ultimately, Dyno Dynamics have outlined a set of guidelines for dyno operators to follow. This gives everyone a level playing field and includes tyre pressures, gears to run in etc etc.

I'll split this lot off into a seperate thread guys :D

I think we all know that different dyno's produce different results.

The main thing with the DD dyno is that they have a set of guidelines that all DD operators follow so that there can be consistency of results.

This is the point of them really - so that you can go back to the sam eplace xyz days later having made changes to yoru car and KNOW whether it is better or worse.

For shootout purposes it helps to even the playign field too.

I am not fussed about the results of mine because I know that in the real world it produces more boost and sooner which has to mean more power/torque. On the dyno it only gets 1.35bar whereas on the track it will get up to 1.6

With your 'Hondata' ecu, can you can plug a laptop in and do a power run (off the road officer) to give you a BHP reading ?

I am sure Scott could do that to my Power FC, maybe the same with yours ?

I'll still vouch that your Civic is fast mate !!! Very fast !!

I noticed exactly the same with my figures, showing 1.35 bar on the graph, but peaks @ 1.56 on the road according to the AVCR. I also noticed that although my rev limiter is set @ 7300rpm, the run stopped @ 7100rpm with the power still climbing.

Anyway - who cares, it was a good day out :D
