My "Big Power" Day (+Video)

Post by Maxx »

Quick Intro in case you don't know ...

I work as an ARDS instructor and Driver Coach. It is a fun jub and we get to sit in and occasioanally drive some fairly powerful cars but I was please the other day to be asked to work on an F1 Experience Day at Rockingham.

I mentioned in this post : http://www.bigpower.co.uk/forum/viewtop ... c&start=20 that I had a big power day coming up.

I don't know too much about the cost side of it etc. but basically you get to drive a normal car under instruction, then a Formula Rockingham Car (similar to FF2000 spec) paced, then un-paced, then an F3 Car (early 90s, fully functional, no rev restrictions or traction control) then an F1 car. The Car is a proper F1 car from the mid 90's, all thats been added is Traction Control and the gearing has been setup for the particular track. There are no rev restriction but we did have to quiten it down somewhat from the initial run.

Before you ask, no, we don't get to drive it. It costs big time to run this thing. I'm not sure what car the Silver one we ran is but it has a Cosworth V8. The other car (in the video) is newly acquired and is an Arrows/Footwork Judd. The F3 cars shown are both Ralts, an RT30 and an RT32.

Here is some pics and video I took from the day mashed up, it really doesn't do justice to the sound or the sheer power of the F1 car but thought you might like to see it.
