You've seen it !! .. :) - I'm going to attach if for the drift session on the 9th.

Based on Matt's footage I would say it's pretty bloody secure.

What I found has helped is the car being clean ... and soaking the rubber of the suction cup in hot water to soften it up ...

It does however struggle to attach on angles that are curved. Other than that it's great.

I'm not sure how the law stands about driving round with camera's on the car - hence why I didn't head onto main roads. Top gear don't get arrested though so maybe as it's attached properly then it's not a problem.

I would think that using one externally on a track session would be a great big no-no.

I would imagine the only time you'll get on track with it is 'testing' ... I wonder if we can organise a testing session :)

Hi Guys,

I haven't introduced myself yet but might as well post something helpful as a start!

I've been mounting cameras and bullet cameras for a while and have used both B-hague and fastfilms previously wih no complaints.

I've now tended towards using bullet cameras and protecting the camcorder in a bag or foam lined box. This mostly partly to comply with scrutineering on the Radical I pit crew on and regularly film on track.

For the camcorder I have used a superclamp, double ball head extension and a camcorder bracket. For the bullet camera I use the mounts pictured below.

Basically suction mounts aren't usually tolerated on trackdays or especially on race days, though inside a tin top on a trackday should be OK. The mounts must be rigid with little or no chance of anything falling off. For personal use suction mounts are fine so long as the sucker is looked after and the surface cleaned. Always best to use a strap as well though.

Here's an example of my fairly extreme install on the Radical Clubsport entered in the Castle Combe Special GT championship. I use a camcorder in the silver box at the bottom of the screen and a Sony bullet camera on the roll bar. The microphone is a "zorst" (exhaust) mic which only records very high level sound and so wind noise isn't an issue!. This enviroment kills an unprotected camcorder very quickly as I found out the first time on a test day :(
