I'll be honest mate, when Ben told me about a new forum Stu had created and that it was designed with a more responsible approach to driving cars I thought it wouldnt last very long. Especially when there are plenty of other forums out there that focus on specific cars eg Mazda Rotaryclub / GTR etc etc. I was an avid MRC'er and nothing else.
But nevertheless I joined the site, started to get to know people on here and started to see that everybody was keen to show off there rides or help give advice to people when in need.
After the first few months it was obvious both Stu and Dunk had worked really hard to identify what was expected of members and the real ethos of what Big Power was about. I think they should be commended for getting people on board to start with who they knew and trusted (sadly I dont think I was one of them right from the beginning) to set an example for anyone else joining the site. This has helped the site mature and unlike mentioned forums there arent threads that have to get removed / closed etc etc by people who are deliberately stiring up trouble. I love the fact that it doesnt matter what kind of car you have it will be appreciated by everyone, there isnt the snobbery of the other forums that only want to see a particular car and everything else is considered rubbish !
The wealth of offers and traders on here that Stu and Duncan have secured can only be commended, I fully intend to be using any of them at some point in the future. Lets face it, cars arent cheap so any money we can save and have people we trust working on our cars is a huge benefit !!!!
I'll echo Duncans points about learning about other cars and I thoroughly enjoy the threads people are writing with full descriptions and pics of what they are doing. But to me it is important not to make it just a technical forum, I love the photoshops / the vids / gaming threads too and enjoy the banter that goes with it.
Big Power is starting to become a very large entity and its brilliant we have so many members now from all walks of life, all with the same interest of using cars sensibly.
If there are things you dont like or would like to see, whether its an event thats car or non car orientated (for the girlfriends obviously!), a supplier you would like to see on board etc etc then dont hesitate to send us (Stu, Duncan, George, Ben or myself) a PM and we will see what we can do. The site is as much for you guys as it is for us so dont be afraid in getting in touch, even though Stu is as big as Darth Vader he doesnt rule like him !!!!!!
Overall I am thrilled to be a part of Big Power, its a full credit the site has grown to every member on here and I think 2007 has plenty on offer to everyone !!!
