Just this second got in !!!!

The car runs, the car idles - just about ;) :D - and the kill switches work still since we have redone the looms.

The gauges all work and are in new places, they also light up now whereas they didnt and all the ecu's and control harnesses live in the glovebox instead of just the main ecu and HKS FconV Pro.

Most of the inside is now painted - thanks Stu - and alot of the minor but impoirtant jobs arer done like the battery box, the new leads to the kill switch from the battery, the dahs is back together properly, the wings have been repaired and are back on albeit not quite the same degree of matt as before, but this will get sorted soon. One side has the holes in the skirt for the external jacking points, the other side will be done tomorrow night and the spolitter is ready to go on.

Old redundant stickers are now off - thanks again Stu - and the car looks strange with the front half fundamentally graphic free, I took a couple of pics but cant be arsed to do them now.

Bobs leaving at 5am to get it down to Abbeys for 7.30am and they will be running the engine in on the dyno, then mapping it for us. I cant wait to see what she makes, it certainly sounds mean if nothing else !!!

Theres still alot left to do but hopefully tomorrow night will see the last of them !!!

Im knackered !!!

:? :? :?

Oh yeah,

I forgot to add,

Spent a large portion of today checking the geometry and setup as well as corner weights and adjustments prior to the setup session we have organised on track.

Basically the new cage is a far more serious piece of kit than the old bolt in one and as such weighs considerably mor, there are also the external jacking points and sill reinforcement for these to allow for as well.

When the car got weighed at Snetterton it came in at 1195kg's......................it now weighs 1110kg's and effectively means we have managed to remove around 130kg out the car in the last few weeks - that around 22stoine to put it in perspective !!!

I guess theres about another 35kg we can get out of it in the next few weeks easily at which point you are talking carbon doors, boot and lexan windows which frankly Im not sure if I can be nothered with from a hassle and financial perspective !!!

Im pretty chuffed actually !!

:D :D :D

J, sounds like it's coming on leaps and bounds - 22 stone is no mean feat.

Can't wait to see the differences.

I received a message from James earlier today.
401bhp @ the hubs at just 1.5 bar :o All that from a 2 litre. Oh yeah.......wheelspin in fifth too 8)

I'll let the big man elaborate if he wants too.

very nice indeed both on the work on the car and with that figure :o what turbo are you using to achieve 401bhp@ the wheels at only 1.5 bar on your srdet20 :o 8)

A very special T28 ;) :D !!!

Just got in and basically am a very happy bunny.

I had originally thought we would run 1.8bar on a slightly larger tubby than my old T28 hybrid in order to get around 450bhp at the flywheel. In reality I knew this would probably be just more than it would acheive and also be a "special occasions" setting on the boost controller with probably 410-420 more readily useable at around 1.6bar.

Bob advised when we had the car bolted together that he was thinking of not exceeding 1.6bar at all as there was little point for another 30bhp and it would greatly affect the longevity of a roller bearing turbo, I knew he was right but inside was slightly dissapointed as I knew it would mean a limit of around 420bhp with luck or maybe even as "low" as 400 !! I know that figures are irrelevent but there is a reason I am interested in the numbers - its the only comparison I have with my opposition and for example Iknew that Phil Morrison ran a roller bearing Garrett 3076r and managed 369 at the hubs and even 385 when he wound the boost up, he was doing okay with that power level at the faster tracks but again the bar would be raised this year and hence I had a lot of catching up to do so this was the main thinking behind the big power hike. That and the fact I need to get used to lots of power for when the new car arrives !!

Anyway, I pestered Bob a couple of times while Danoh at Abbeys was mapping the car with him and he finally told me to bog off and he would ring me with figures later !!! He rang and started saying "You wanted 400bhp didnt you ??? well have I got good news for you...." and went on to say that they "decided they were only going to run the turbo at 1.5bar as there seemed little point blowing it harder as it acheived all we wanted..."......I took this positively but inside was a little down that I had now spent a fortune to "only" get 400bhp and whilst this was great and the engine was awesome it wasnt quite the full monty as I wanted...............I nearly missed the next few words........."...as it produced 401bhp at the hubs !!!"

Naturally enough when I realised what he just said I was like :o :o :o :D :D :D !!!!!!!!!

Theres lots to it but basically I owe all the guys at GBH Motorsport a huge thank you, as well as Tony, Mark, Danoh and the lads down at Abbeys for helping acheive this awesome result. Theres a few others too - notably Gary at HKS - and together it has proved that the Orange should be well up to the job this year, now all I need to do is learn how to drive it !!!!!

Im chuffed as a hat full of monkeys !!!

blinking eck James - that is awesome power from that. Its a shame it will all be wasted on tyre smoke ;)

Big respect the the guys at GBH and I am really looking forward to seeing it in action in EDC - it should do well with you at the helm :D
