How much stuff can get you behind the front bumper ??
1989 Celica GT-Four - Update:April 2008 Rebuild commences
Andy
I have read this start to finish and it's great, just great. I think the car looks fantastic and with the new exhaust fitted and a suitable map, 'she' should go like a missile. The paintjob is inspired. Obviously I have seen the 'rising sun' thing a thousand times but this is a committed design whereas those others I've seen are nods towards the idea. This IS Orimental :wack:
Your way of attacking problems that would have left many of us reaching for the noose or the credit card with nothing more than an open mind and a will to press on is a credit to guys like you just keep going. Fair play :notworthy:
Oh yeah, love the original wheels too mate :thumb:

this is a bit of a big update, so lets get on with it
work begins with rubbing down the paintwork, last autumn!

fix the slightly dodgy arches and start applying primer

i fancied something a little radical, certainly off the wall
heres the front view, the missing "Celica" strip is going to be chopped up and meshed in the centre - i might even make it fit properly

sponsorship here?

or how about on the rear quarter?

the rear of the car is also available for your company sticker

another 'ring trip is planned for early July, 1 week camping...

these two stickers are for me to press down on the bonnet when inserting the bonnet pins so i dont get the paintwork oily

there are still a few rough edges to tidy up, mainly bits of overspray and to make the meshed section for the upper bumper.
i also fitted some new brakes, theyre 4-pot calipers off a Volvo 240. stop laughing at the back there, they are a very common upgrade for club racers. theyre mated to scooby discs and use DS2500 pads. i went out to bed them in this afternoon and at the end of the exercise i gave it a little more than 50% braking effort and was lifted off the seat

so, what do you think?
bonus mark to who spots what is intentionally missing from the "after" pics.

Celica GT4 ST165 Sprint Special. GT3071@2.0bar
New wheels, added pax seat and no sunroof now.....
A great thread and nice brake upgrade. Did you have to fabricate any brackets for the calipers?
