I take it there was no overtaking allowed?

Looks like good fun and a track I'd like to have a go at from a novelty factor. The supercharger sounded great but the car seemed to understeer worse than Dunks Impreza?! :D

looked like a mini convoy up front and at the follow through they all slowed down for a load of what appear to be photographers?

sounded nice?

but after one lap i actually got pissed off with the sound!!

rather hear a turbo and some turbo stall!!

The day was organised by someone. 120 or so MINIs signed up to do it.

The idea was a parade lap around the course....however my friend got stuck (legitimately too, dogs ran out onto the course) and so had to play "catch up" lol

Yes there was no overtaking allowed.

I'll ask if there was any reason why he backed off. I'll let my friend explain about the understeer :P

Hi all,

The day was organised by a friend from MINI2.com. Was a chance for lots of MINI owners to see the top gear test track, gets pics and to do a couple of laps behind a safety car. Due to the course being a figure of eight they let about 20 cars out at once doing around 50mph. As you expect most people slowed down before corners to get some room and then power through the corner. No overtaking was allowed.

As Sleepyhead said I got lucky on my second run as someone's dogs started to run on track which ment 4 of us got delayed. We then had to play catch up so that we didn't get stuck at the cross over.

From watching the video I'm not sure why you think my car seemed to understeer. The lines I followed are what the stig drives. The tyre noise you can hear in the video was in fact from the MINI infront of me. He really had no idea about entry speed for the corners and I made sure to stay back most of the time. A lot of people were trying to show off by making lots of tyre noise and lighting up the inside tyre.

At hammerhead the MINI infront was the one understeering big time and I thought he was going to hit the tyre wall on the outside. When we came to the second to last corner he also went way to quick into the corner and ended up getting two wheels on the grass. This was when I was happy I stayed back just incase he lost it and came across infront of me. :o

The reason why we didn't take the follow through at full speed was we catched the pack up. :( Think the safety car was only doing about 40-50mph so most people slowered right down before it so they could be under accleration going past the people with camera's/video's. I need to talk to the person that recorded the video in my car as I'm sure we did take the follow through a lot quicker on the previous lap. 8)

If you would like to see my MINI in real action on a track take a look at this video from Abingdon.

J - I think you are being harsh there to an obvious fan and spectator of D1GB. There is no law against the sunstrips and I thought you would be keen for people to support and advertise the series :)

As it was a parade lap there is no way, as he explained, that he could go flat out through there.
