That made me smile too :) The last time it was used was last years February track day at Snetterton, once again organised by Paul @ UK-Trackdays. I am determined to get the car too as many tight and twisty tracks as possible as Snetterton is not very kind to cars with less than 300bhp, the straights are all about power (and tankslappers)

Just need to spend a few quid on the trailer and the truck as well, and then I'll be well and truly sorted for the season ahead.

just been looking at your sierra stu it reminds me of the lighning rods used for oval use. I use to be a mechanic for a lightning rod team i did notice another place you could loose some weight cut the inner door skins out with a plaz cutter :-D and has all the sound denting been removed :?:

All been done mate. I actually cut the inner door skin out of one door and weighed it. It was about the same weight as the alloy I used for the replacement! Based on the effort and cramp in my hands I elected not to bother after that :) The only further weight saving is either in the form of composite panels=not happening or my losing weight=not happening :D

Weight saving~

To give you an idea of how far I've gone into this, I removed everything (internal bumper reinforcement, double skin on the inside of the roof, door locks all around, latches on the read doors~ they're now bolted shut, every spare wire in the loom etc etc) Weight saving was cheap so that was what I was most thorough on, I reckon I spent 3 months in total making it as light as I could on a budget.

Not too worried about losing strength as the cage will protect me in all but the most severe of accidents on a race circuit. The only time I would worry about losing strength is in terms of the chassis. I may get the welder out and get Dave or Gary to teach me how to weld.........anyone want me to practice on their cars? :wave2:

Slow arse progress (bit like my driving) :D

The stickers have been on there for years and by God, does it show!! After preaching to Jim about 'Yeah, use a hairdryer' I decided that I'd do the same.

Image

The Viper stripes on the roof are stuck on like mad, not helped by the amateur paint job when I replaced the sunroof :? Getting the stickers off was one thing, getting the adhesive off quite another. I did have a quick look around the unit for some of Daves aerospace tech adhesive remover/octane booster (Toulene) but couldn't find any and settled for petrol :D

Image

Also took the top layer of previous crap paintjob. Oopsy.

Image

And the lacquer!! :o

Image

Paint colour of choice for those that crash a lot :D

More to follow tomorrow :wave2:

stu - would love to be up there helping with the spray cans as it would be a giggle and a half if the oil change fiasco is anything to go by :rotflol:
