[quote="Maxx"]The springs will help cut down the body roll and tighten things up a bit, they certainly make the car look better, however, it was the TTE chassis bracing that had the biggest effect for me. It's not cheap though at

Mark,

Many Thanks. Thats a neat looking track car you have there :) no room for an instructor though :(

Re my novel track car - it was a two seater  (check out the red one behind) - there was just about room for a very slim instructor - if he wasn't slim to start with he would have been after the 1st left hander

Fortunately the skyline is a tad larger.

I have read that link and it all looked a bit dirty for my liking - I was hoping to find someone who could do it - apparently Toyota don't volunteer the service :).

Dirty?

Your Toyota Dealer should be able to do the springs but you are right, they are not keen. Also be aware you'll need a full laser alignment once they've been done, often this is not quoted in the price.
The MR2 is such a light car that you'll probably need to have the alignment done anyway every 18-24 months if a fairly regular drive.

You are probably very short of specialists in your area, the only Toyota ones I know are the Silverstone one (http://www.silverstoneperformance.biz/) actually based at the circuit or 2 in Kenilworth (Rogue Motorsport & Thor Racing).

If you decided to go for the Chassis Brace it is really easy to fit providing you can get the car well off the ground.

Precats are not normally considered a potential issue until at least about 40,000 miles so you may have some leaway there, plus a regular garage should be able to do that for you, there are instructions on the mr2roc board (or links at least).

awesome - really interesting - I meant the precat looked like a dirty job for me ... :).

As to the other bits, I'll see what Toyota quote. Thanks for the info.

Hey Maxx, Welcome to the forum

I was at the LOT event at Snetterton as a viewer as i was expecting HOT to be there but hadnt checked the forum and they had pulled out! Was hoping to do a few laps with some Hondas at the time, sure there will be plenty of opportunities!

Just out of curiousity does the Jim Russell course still run and is this regarded as one of the best training courses now-a-days? I know you did yours a while back and it looks like its given you a very good career, something that at 21 I would love to aim towards..

Approximately what sort of costs are involved to become trained?

Thanks

Paul,

Sorry for delay in replying, really busy at the moment but i'll reply more fully tomorrow. This was just announced today, may be of interest to folks here.

They are usually good value, even if you don't get beyond the first round as they are heavily sponsored, plus, you never know you might make it a lot further. If I wasn't excluded because of my license grade, i'd enter.
