Local Sprints

I do agrre the MLR way makes the events cheaper than say entering as MSA sprint championship, but its not something thats so bad.

I did enjoy our little Swaffham sprints tho, and as said before, if I hadn't just invested loads of time, effort and cash into my car I would be tempted to sell it and buy and Evo, I think the MLR is a top club, you have the Sprint series, trackdays, Spa and Ring trip, driver training, the SIDC does some of this, but not to the extent or organisation of the MLR, top stuff for you boys :!:

As you say MSA licenced venues will not entertain a private timed event.
Saftey is alway 1st consideration with anything i have worked on.
The simple way forward is to find suitable venues set up your own thing, get insurance and play.

I would be interested in doing a sprint type thing in the gtr. As the Supra will be used on track mostly this year it would be nice to have something to fill the GTR void 8)

I have no idea how much timing gear is to buy or rent :oops: ....but it looks like an 'inhouse' event maybe possible with the cute minds we have on this site :thumb:

What is Silverstone then?? Take none of my comments or quips as antagonising but a lot of the information I'm getting is contradictory. I would love any advice you can give me.

My 2p worth...

A few years ago I used to be a member of Chelmsford Motor Club, and did a couple of sprints in one of the sprint championships (and a mate was doing it more seriously).

A lot of standing around, waiting for your turn. Normally had 2 practice runs then 2 or 3 timed runs. So a lot of waiting for a few minutes of action. But then its competitive so its great comparing your time/lap/etc to others in your class. Trophy at the end of the day etc.

From memory if you had modifications to your car, you went in "road going modified"...and then you had to have 3/4pt harnesses (and might have been other things as well)....Also your car gets scruitineered and can/will fail (take gaffer tape lol).

Bit different to track days, good fun!

Just bouncing this thread, because I think you guys have been thinking along surprisingly similar lines to some of the people here. Just look up the 2007 Japanese Intermarque Sprint Championship thread on this forum!

Blacky, if you are competing in the AEMC you will find you are doing most of these events anyway!

Timekeeping is quite a science and should not be attempted by just anyone without experience... the people we use at our events have around

I haven't enrolled for the AEMC yet as I am still waiting for my car to be mapped. DEfo will be and will be keen to go some of these Inter marque Sprints
