Hi guys... just picked up on this... ive been AWOL for a while it seems...

You say when its cold there isnt a problem starting, but as it heats up it starts to miss, then if stopped, wont start up again...

Are you familiar with the diagnostics procedure for this ECU?
If so...

Have you run a ECU diagnostic check yet?
If so, I guess you had code 55?
Anything else and theres a problem.

Is this the R33 GTR engine, and standard ECU, or is it an upgraded ECU?

I have a lot of RB experience, especially in the electrical department, and it sounds most likely to be sensor related.

You say it misses when revved, after its warm... does it pop and bang or does it sort of hit xxxrpm's thenm die, and then run again and die at same revs...?

Sorry to ask so many questions Ben, just that id be drawn to either a faulty Engine Temperature Sensor, or AFM... but these can also trigger a 'limp home' mode in the ECU.

If you unplug either of these, does the engine run or rev better?
It will only rev to 2500rpm with these unplugged tho.
S13 200sx - RB20DET - 1st UK swap... Luvvin' it too!!

If so... Yes

Have you run a ECU diagnostic check yet? Keep meaning too, but keep forgetting to print off the list of what each code means.

Only a slight splutter - when you rev it quickly - splutters at about 5000 rpm - does not stall, just a slight splutter

If only it was a limp home on the car :) - for me it was dead completely. Engine turning over but not firing.

It will only rev to 2500rpm with these unplugged tho.

I know you love Multicell Stu, but I was lucky enough to find a unipart code on my battery - called a unipart centre - after they said they'd never heard of the code - with one phone call - I have a battery being delivered today. So collect on saturday. it's coming together.

Well are you ready for what the problem was ... and it wasn't caused by me I'll add.

Gary found that the bearings in the Crank Angle Sensor had basically stopped being bearings :) - Not free flowing at all - so the Car is now running a treat with all the lovely new bits I fitted and especially the help of Gary and APT.

:)
