Any ideas why my car now won't fire up.

Do you get any spark blowout when the boost comes on?

Would indicate a weak spark and possibly coilpack.

Without wishing to sound like a pillock, how would you know if your spark was blowing out John?

It's not the spark blowing out - I'd have to be driving it to test the boost :).

Once it get's warm under idle the problems show themselves. I won't drive it anywhere as I don't want to be towed home.

Misfire when it comes on boost.

Cured by reducing the spark gap on the plugs, or selecting some with a smaller gap and usually because of the power increases (because on the increased boost level) an increase in temperature follows so you chose plugs one or two heat ranges cooler to conduct the heat away.

I've got my plugs gapped to 0.8 mm - the RB26 is notorious for blowing out it's own spark - quite funny really.

My splitfires should be here this week also, all ordered and paid for :).
Next is to replace the battery as I noticed after two attempts to start it was down to 11.5 - 11.8 vaults - which from a few conversations isn't enough to fire the beast up.

Only problem now is finding the correct sized battery - luckily the existing unit is a unipart job so I should be able to get a direct replacement or similar sized more powerful one.

Glad you're getting there Ben :)

Vaults?? 11.5 is surely enough to take the pole vault world record? :rotflol:

There is a good battery supplier on Sweetbriar Industrial estate, I forget the name, somewhere near SCA, Really Really helpful, and pretty damn cheap as well.
