HICAS is very much a question of taste. I don't like it but then you shouldn't take my opinion as definitive. The idea of entrusting the amount of steering lock I apply down to a 13 year old computer worries me. The idea of trusting me with it is bad enough

As for the tiptronic box, relax. Most Japanese sports cars offer this as an option (350z, Supra etc etc) There are plenty of manual gearboxes out there so don't panic.

Thats fair enough then, I'm sure he wont notice the HICAS much in that case. I suppose there is a locking kit available somewhere. If in doubt make one

Gearbox wise he has been in one manual, all others for sale on AutoTrader/Ebay etc have triptonic. However if the 'box is okay, then it is worth a shout

I love mine

Ive not driven the auto/tip GTT but have been a passenger in one. It seemed very good from the passenger seat, and from what ive heard its quite a good box if youre into auto cars and obviously has the bonus of the tiptronic paddle shift for more control. The manuals do seem to be alot harder to find though, and as such carry a premium above that of the auto/tip cars.

The only time ive ever felt the HICAS working on mine was on the track, and to be honest, although a little odd at first, i really quite liked it....but then im not a particularly proficient track driver, where as im sure someone who is, was find it more of a hinderance. Locking kits are available for the HICAS though so thats always an option.

My good lady wife has an R34GTT with a tiptronic gearbox and I have to say that it's very nice to drive. You can either leave it in full auto mode, slap the gearshift back and forth for manual changes, or use the steering wheel buttons. Once on the move, the gearchanges are really quick and after you get used to it, it can be hussled along quite quickly. The box is reconed to be good for 400bhp too.

As a car, it's far nicer to drive than my 500bhp GTT :?

- I like my Hicas two - it's odd the first time you experience it on say a roundabout - it's good for making your passengers think you've got the backend out

Another resurection

Just a quick one about some bits and bobs. Just need to check what the standard GTT turbo is. I have been told it can be pushed to 1bar, but then I have also read that it is ceramic and 10psi is the max :?: Also what boost are the standard size injectors safe to run at :?:

Standard is 0.95 bar at the max.

I was toying with the idea of upping the boost from standard to about 1bar. The HKS F COn is nice but also a bit of a pain as no one local can map it. I don't fancy paying Abbey etc a fortune so I did look at a PowerFC. Just a going to leave it as is for a while I think

probably best to mate. get used to it first. you might be happy with that but find the ride needs work first or the brakes.

its nice to go quicker but it helps if you can stop too.
