Ok. I'm considering a super cheapo alternative alternative for a new crash helmet for this years track stuff. No not egg cartons fashioned ala OMP, but a motorcycle helmet instead. I know this will be ok for trackday frolicks, but wat about a proper event like Time Attack? If my new 'lid' is ACU gold approved, will it pass muster with the scrutineers in a car based race series? Does anyone know?
I have my eyes on a very nice full carbon lid if they will allow it.........

No,
They are not FIA and therefore ISO 6005 ( I think) approved.
We went through this last year for the first TA and D1GB series.
Motorsport lids only Im afraid.
If anyone with a pumpkin for a head wants a nice cheap Sparco open face then I have a spare (that wasnt quite pumpkin enough for me !!)

helmets for most motorsport events (doesn't apply to trackdays) have to generally have the British Standard approval or SNELL equivalent.....................

I know its slightly differant but my lid is FIA approved. I tried loads on but i the end it was expense was justified. I have the sparco formula. Its very light and comfy. Also has very good ventalation.
I was told by loads of people to buy the most expensive one you could justify.
