Just to let everybody know I have a DB meter that I'm happy to bring to meets etc if people want to check how loud their cars are before trackdays etc.
I'll bring it to the Jan meet, if you want to use it feel free to come and ask.
I'll be there either in my own S13 or with R32 Nik.
Cheers

well hang on.
if he brought it to the january meet as mentioned, we could do the check for a rough idea?
would be very annoying to pay up for a track session to be a Db or 2 over?
i remember a bike magazine was covering the new legislation about noise of exhausts etc.
they recorded the bike coming passed the meter at 87Db.
thing was, the engine wasn't even on!!

no we cant do a check for noise there in january.
they, like most other places, have neighbours that complain about everything. Even though the airfiled, circuit was there when they moved in.
They have winter noise limits and us revving our cars will definitely be outside of these and result in us no longer being able use the venue.... this is not what we want. Hence we ask/insist that everyone drives considerately when there so that our continued use (and the continued use of the circuit by MSV) is not threatened. Anyone not complying with this will be told to leave.
Using a noise meter for a test would need permission from the management of the venue to make sure that they have agreed activity on that day/time. As I said, we will get this.

Fair play mate, I understand all this and wouldnt want to do anything that would jepordise use of the venue. I was more thinking about lending it out to members to take home and do their noise tests. If we could get permission to use the venue for noise tests at some time that would be handy as well.dynamix wrote:no we cant do a check for noise there in january.

s13 with 313bhp and Omex management and now an APT fully forged engine

is this the type of dB meter that can be attached to the exhaust (eg for on-boost volume measurements on track) or the conventional type where an operator holds the magic wand whilst the driver revs the engine in neutral?
the reason i ask is, my exhaust is 84dB static, but certainly one hell of a lot louder when on boost
