The guy that hit the car was due to meet me today with some cash but after calling him i got a load of excuses.

He's skint, just broken up with his girlfriend, cant afford to feed his kids,, blah blah etc.

I said lets just put it through the insurance, he said he cant afford to do that either. Saying the excess is too high and that with a claim he wouldnt be able to insure his car again etc.

So now he reckons that he will have some money by Friday the 5th January...

Although as bad as it sounds i really have my doubts :(

If this was anyone else id be fine about it but he already has such a reputation for not ever fronting money for things... its pi55ing me off to be honest :(

Break his legs and take his money.

I despise people like that, worming their way out of paying for anything.

I hope you get it sorted soon, perhaps a gentle persuasion by a large burley friend of yours could help nudge things along?

That is not his choice - it doesn't matter if he wants to go through his insurance or not - you are totally entitled to make a claim against him - whether he can afford the excess is of no consequence to the claim, as that is paid by his insurer - they will then reclaim the excess from him - that's his problem not yours.

You may be able to obtain his insurance details from the police if you report the accident to them. I'd give him until Jan the 5th then stitch him up like a kipper

I hope that helps

On a lighter note - you could always send these unpleasant looking specimens around

peggy needs a shave!!

i would wait for the 5th too.

then claim off the insurance.

maybe all this is causing stress and anxiety?

maybe some financial compensation is needed?

Spoken to him today and ive been promised the money for friday.

If not then i WILL be calling Gary back @ Keith Michaels to go ahead with the claim.

Gary said its in his interest to pay me cash because as soon as it becomes an insurance matter he will lose his NCB instantly regardless.

I think ive been pretty fair, i even said that id pay for the wheel arch liner.. i only want the cost of the paintwork covered :(

Its harsh i know but his personal finances are not my problem, at the end of the day he hit my car, didnt stop, didnt tell anyone, waited to be confronted and after all that ive given him 2 weeks grace to come up with the funds.. its not like im asking for 10K, im asking for a reasonable
