I think you will have to let Nev have a read of the Nurburgring guide before he goes out there again :help:

I've had the UK version for about a year and considerate a vital part of preperation for any track day. Even better if you can get a video running on your laptop/PC and then go through it corner, by corner :thumb:

No excuse for dodgy lines through the Esses now Dunk

117 pages on the ring - section by section and then corner by corner - truly awesome

as for the esses Stu - I use your line now mate - it is much quicker IMO :D

wouldn't just buying GT4 for the PS2 be better? lol

how can you take all that information in and it be of use when you get there?

it must be like reading how to water ski?

its alright saying to lean back and bend your legs, but slamming into the water can only be experienced for real.

well i hope it serves you well duncan.

no more excuses thats the problem!!

on a more serious note; would gear selection and braking points/approach speeds differ from car to car?

the idea is to improve and any input is useful, whether it be how important a particular corner is to the overall speed of a lap or the knack for that corner, a certain stays in and reading it afterwards or during the day helps.

gt4 is okay for the nurburgring for giving you a general idea of the corner sequence but does not brace you in any way for the changes of surface, bumps, cambers, gradients or compressions :o It is barely recogniseable in reality.

gear selection or speeds are not covered in the guides as that is very car specific, but turn in points and clipping points are useful to know, although again these can vary a little by car and handling characteristics/driving style.

information cannot be harmful in any way and I know that it will be of benefit to me :)

before the ring trip in sept I devoured in-car video, guides, tips etc - they all helped give a feeling of confidence and control, thereby making more relaxed and i think safer :)

I too have both of these guides and took the Nurburgring one with me on my last visit. It is worth a read and any information to help you improve has got to be a good thing.

The best guide is the white dots showing the cliping points. Not many people know of the white dots, but if you look out for them, you will see them.

These are really weird .. they are at the turn in points too at "most" corners and are not always as obvious as the lines that you would intuitively take. Some are very wide indeed such at the turn in point at Bergwerk (i think) just before the long grind uphill. This is a really important corner as it affects your speed for the next 2 miles or so and getting it right can mean a lot of time saved.

Great bed time reading - they get my vote :thumb:

Excellant guide Dunc.
I have already signed up to take part in the nurburg cannonball in 2007 and since joining BP i have found your threads on the nurburing exremely informative. I for one will be getting that Guide.
Thanks for sharing the information :thumb:
