Brake Skimming

Post by duncan »

Has anyone had this done ?

Mine have a slight judder when braking and wondered whether skimming them would cure this tis it is time to bin them and go for better discs.

Go for better disks mate - for the trouble of removing them and the cost of skimming - surely it would be better to upgrade !! ... as whatever has caused this set to gain a judder will only do it again later.

Have you got the wrong pads for you disks?.

the skimming would be done on the car

pads are ferodo ds2500 on std brembo discs. I will be getting new DBA discs soon but wondered whether the skimming would give me a few miles in the meantime

Dunk

Have a look on auto-journals.com. A guy on there (Tim Skipper I think) has an E30 M3 and had it done in Norwich with good results.

id say one of the best places to skim discs is AUTOTEST on the airport ind est, thats where our mechanic used to work and they have the proper on car machine.

they also have a great wheel alignment machine!!!!

Thanks Gary - will give them a shout after the snetterton track day - might as well give them proper skimming to do rather than just my tiny little judder at the moment

See if I can get the full 140mph brake judder experience at the end of the straight :D

I would be inclined to get them done before the Snetterton trackday, as they will only get worse and will really bug you and spoil the day.
