Power FCs arent being made anymore !!!

Post by RX7 »

Apparently Apexi have stopped making Power FCs, the reason is:

"Reason for this is, the maker of the ASICs (NEC?) stoped the ASIC production."

So grab them while you can !!!!!

i heard various rumours that apexi went bust, and then reformed as a new company with a very similar name...

there seems to be quite a shortage of powerFC's at the minute tho...

Lots of the guys on the MRC forum have tried ordering them through dealers in Japan and they have been told that there is no more stock coming in from Apexi.

Could be bad news for the UK, most Rotary tuners use Power FCs and Skylines I believe. Motec is quite expensive !!!!

Either way if they do become unavailable another product will step up to take it's place.

Apexi or A`pex` or Apexura or APR I think are here to stay after all their website is going strong and they are bringing out new products, hardly a company that is going bust or has done. Go forth and multiply springs to mind more like.

there are many programmable ecu's already out there, but the big attraction of the powerFC is the fact it's loom compatible, plug and play! the motec/autronic/hydra/insert name here all require soldering and repinning of the ecu loom in order to fit (and occasionally requiring additional sensors).

the powerFC isnt the be all and end all of ecu's, but its nice. i would still prefer a motec pro for my car, if only for launch control and the other funky bits it provides :)

nb, i am aware the motec is plug and play for a select few cars, like the evo and scooby you lucky buggers!

Never said they were going bust chaps, just that they were stopping making the Power FC !!!

Guessed there will be new and better products coming out but it may take the tuners a bit longer to get to grips with them....plus they wont be as cheap will they ?

Power FC is definitely a basic ecu compared with the others mentioned, motec is the daddy.

I cant get my head round the Power FC let alone anything more complicated !!!!!!!

Soldering and splicing the wires in the loom sounds too much work to me !!!!

As Boxy says - stop ye panicking, if it is being phased out they'll make a bigger and better replacement - Gareth, lucky your weren't into RX7's when they decided to stop making them ... you'd have freaked!.
