Dyno Day Report Nov 12th Engine Advantages

Post by Stuart »

I thought I would start a seperate thread for the aftermath/bitching etc :)

First and foremost, I'd like to thank my excellent company today. BigFil, Martin, Turbomart, Alain, Esther, Gary, Leigh, Rob, JC, Sneaky Pete, Scott, Alex, Andy, Lee, Bladey and Matt . You guys are some of the funniest bastards I've had the pleasure of meeting :thumb:

A few highlights from the day;

A very funny conversation about OAP buggies, BigFil and amusement rides and wheelchairs on the rollers.

A passenger ride in Matt's Mini (worked out the power to weight ratio of approximately 358.4 bhp). Like piloting a cruise missile. With no steering. And sitting on a loose chair. With Matt saying 'everybody just laughs'. I couldn't help thinking 'I'm about to die, I may as well laugh'. The way the car launches itself around like a bump and go robot is truly scary, and all the while Matt is happily chatting away about the time he nearly killed someone when the boost came in....... and then he hit the nitrous. I have never uttered so many expletives in such a short time.

I was very fortunate to get a lift with Alain and Esther in their lovely Evo 4. On the way back we pulled into a Shell garage on the A12 and my eyes nearly fell out of my head. There was the biggest, fattest, rear tyre this side of a Gallardo and it was on the back of a Harley Custom!

Image

This Harley VRod had been fully customised, even to the extent of being supercharged as well. The rear tyre was a 330/30 profile of Avon stickiest rubber and they guy needed all of that grip when he fed in the grunt off the slip road. I don't mind saying, when he started it up it was the second time that day I thought I was going to have a heart attack.

Image

Last thing that I should mention is the cruelty to children thing. There was this kid, no older than 12 years old in the dyno room all day. He came out at regular periods as white as a sheet, probably due to Carbon Monoxide poisoning. We all laughed nick naming him Powder, Casper and Uncle Fester.........my how we laughed

Results; (Yes, there was actually a point to all of this piss taking)

Stu, it was kind of hilarious seeing you getting in and out of the "Mini of Terror", and even funnier hearing your comments about it!

Great write up of a great day :-D

it was a good day.

as always happens when youre a new member to a club, its strange going to events like this and knowing just a few people...but i spoke to a few more guys and was made to feel welcome by everyone =)
if this is indicative of BP events, i think we are headed for good times indeed.

the only real downer was the lack of catering, i was looking forward to the BigPowerBurger

I know what you mean Andy.......I saw a few people having a chuckle and was quick to point out that the 'look' is part of the appeal, a proper wolf in sheeps clothing. My old Sierra gets similar derision on occassion, until they get lapped

Can't wait to see your car in it's natural environment :thumb:
