Big thanks to Dave Bailey

Post by Stuart »

I know this may seem a bit mills and boon, but I thought I would take a moment to publicly thank Dave for his recent efforts with my car. Dave is of the guys I share the unit with and had never failed to listen to my stupid questions and always offered advice if he's too busy to help, which brings me to my motivation for writing.

After enjoying the day at Honington to the full and temporarily killing the brakes, it was back to the workshops to see what was what. The rear discs were cracked but the rest of the system was fine, maybe a fluid change needed, but fine in principle. Anyway seizing this as an opportunity to upgrade, I bought some Brembos with discs front and rear and I asked Dave to oversee me fitting them. I'll cut to the chase, Dave pretty much took over, saw the the brake lines were unsuitable, measure up for new ones, saw that the bolts that held the caliper to the hub bracket were too big and sorted that too and helped me to get the fronts fitted properly along the way. I'm sure this is all very basic stuff for someone that is mechanically minded but I'm not and when someone tells me its a 'bolt on fitment' I take that as read~ it wasn't a bolt on job, but with Daves help he ironed out a few of the problems and got me back on the road. Just the rears to do now and for the first time in ages, I'm going into the event @ Cadwell 100% confident in the car!!

Thanks Dave, you're a star :notworthy:

Murano3~ you know what? I would be very confident actually :)

Dynamix~ New fluid (Castrol response) but no one can get braided hoses for a while. May well get a local firm to make them up.

Yes, Alyn has been very helpful but the problem is at Goodridge not the suppliers.
