Does the new scooby have a IAT. Just the 2000 car i played with didnt have one.

There is a technique to getting the car into stage at the correct temps dunc.
ie you start the car at a certain place. the track is a funny surface.
i was getting my car into stage with 25 deg charge temps last week.

Basically the rubber on the surface may not bond with your tires. that is why fast guys burn out through the box. this lays there rubber so they get good adhesion. if say a car with mickey T's lays rubber then the car that follows will need to lay there rubber if they use a differant tire.

You also have to drop the tire pressure a lot. this is becasue in order to get away fast ( accelerate ) a certain amount of deformation of the tires need to take place. Road tires are reinforced and will not deform by much

scott - forgive my ignorance - what is IAT?

the ECU cuts back the ignition advance if intakes and charge temp are too high - i dont know how much though. I did log the first run but forgot to press the button second time - was asleep :D

ignition advance was backed by 3% at oeak rpm to a normal road run.

turbo was down to 1.22 bar from 1.27 bar (not masive diff i know though)

I understand what you are saying on the tyre pressures but is there not a trade off with extra rolling resistance when you are actually moving?

Air intake temp sensor.

I will give the example of a top fueler.

As the rpm rises ( speed ) the tires throw out decresing the contact surface patch, Ie the tire grows taller and the tread narrower.

on a road car you loose a little high speed stability and the car will wander and slide around but is the better side of the coin.

there is a fine line of 1 psi between controlable and out of control.

I would have said you loose more in having NO grip than the rolling resistance, for a 2 wheel drive any way, many be not so much with 4 wheel drive, top post Scott.

i now have an official new excuse ;)

the sidewalls on the bridgestone re070's are so solid - they are designed for the ring really so dont deflect much

At least I busted my drag cherry  13.85 @ 104.37 leaves me plenty of room for inprovement

Forensic examination of the run vids by slaphead junior did reveal cronic bog down and awsome amounts of clutch slip - so i've just got to work how to stop that and be back up with Stewart

Sorry to hear about your woes with the misfire Stewart - end of a perfect day for you :x

(last time mine did that - the center 2x plugs had crept out and needed a retorque)

Nice to bump into you guys again - thanks for organising it.

Now my blood has cooled slightly

A nice social morning. Good to watch the Fiat 126 with the Chevy lump nearly flip off of the start line.
Nice to meet Martin and see Turbomart, BigFil and max1 (does Fil ever stop grinning? :) ) Was a good day out nearly spoiled by an afternoon sat around wasting time. Nearly. Dunks competitive spirit was great, stopped me pulling out of the last run and Mark (Slaphead) seemed to settle in very nicely on his first BigPower day out.

Roll on the next one but can I suggest we try and organise something private next time so we all get lots of track time? Thread to follow.
