I've decided it's time for a change and am going to sell my toys and just buy one car for the road that i'll use for one or two trackdays a month and visits to the ring 8)
I've spent the last six years driving nissans (r32 gtst r32 gtr 200sx) so it's time for something else.
Looking at spending a maximum of 10k and would really like something with uprated suspension, brakes, engine cooling and just a mild power upgrade as i want it to stay reliable.
So far i was thinking...
Evo 6
Subaru impreza
Lotus elise
3dr Sierra cosworth
Bike engined kit car
Has anyone got any examples of cars for sale, advice or ideas of anything else.
Mucho thanks 8)
There is no way you could live with just one car, you need at least...
Drift car - can be setup for grip pretty easy, in fact you are good enough now you should be heading towards some seriously grippy settings.
Road car/nice car - Evo6 or 3dr would be my choice of your list.
Every Elise made leaks - we were looking seriously into these as a track car for Karen that could also do the work thing as they are so economical, but every single owner i spoke to said they leak, alot !!!
Impreza - unless its one of the very latest ones, the equivalent Evo is usually more able, and tuneable.
Bike engined kit car - you absolutely must be mental to use one of these as a nice car/every day car, it will have the manners of a stuck pig, be as friendly and comforting as Helga Fistworthy at the House of Anal Rapage, and leak, alot, in fact it'll make the Elsie look like a Lexus !!!!
Seriously dude, have a long hard think, your car is good enough for track work, just chill and have a think for a bit.
Must admit i've been thinking about it for the last week or so..
When i worked it out i have less than 1k per month free for car things, that includes insurance and general stuff and at the moment for the last year i've only had 2-5 hours per month driving a fun car, the rest of the time is driving company cars and my tow car.
When i used to have the gtr i'd drive it every day and get 10 plus hours of tracktime per month and i'm really missing that amount of tracktime and driving the car everyday.
Also the drift car needs too much spending on it to make a good road car.
Thanks though Mr Bladey 8) really leaning towards an evo 6..
I'm amazed you're even thinking about this.......there are other options. How much do you think you'll get for the SX? If you subtract that from your 10k, you would probably have enough for something like a nice older M3, knowing your taste for rear wheel drive I think you'll be disappointed with true AWD.
As Bladey says, your SX would be great on a circuit with pennies spent on it, I even have some GTR brakes I'll donate if need be.
Your right though i do love balancing a car on the power rwd style
have to admit i've never driven an awd car but i reckon i could have alot of fun in one through the twisties gripper style.
also i have got a reputation for buying things, having a load of fun in them for a year and then going for something completely different, guess what lol i've had the sx and been drifting for almost exactly a year now
