yes :)
it seems to be pretty good for those younger drivers who need to drive to/from work etc and are discriminated against because of their age/1.4 civic ;) and gives a right royal fisting to friday night cruizers

i would be right behind this, aside from the Big Brother

i'm dead against that principle - against our basic rights

if they want pay as you go insurance then load it on the price of petrol and scrap the insurance company renewal funfair each year.

that way all roaad users pay insurance to the pot rather than just those honest enough to insure

Ok, pay-as-you-go .... I've actually been involved in this project

It's not big brother - thats the media view.

It simply is pay as you go .. the black box records your journey's - it's been in pilot for over 3 years and has worked out cheaper for those drivers who only do a few journey's - if you do lots of journey's get proper insurance.

Also - it does not work out you speed etc ....

The added bonus - it's basically free tracker.

ben, does the black box just count mileage against date/time?

from a techy point of view, im sure the police and insurance companies would have a great time with the info stored on one of those devices. any chance i can play with one?

ps: any IT contracting jobs going at NU? :)

I was involved in the project about 3 years ago - but basically it's a little box with a simcard in it - once a day the box downloads the trips made.

As to jobs - as gareth mentioned - you are unlikely to get one at the moment - as they've just made 4000 people redundant - Gareth is currently awaiting his fate. I managed to get away with it - but my team was affected.

I can certainly recommend A-Plan. Having just got my car back from APT I thought I'd better let them know the mod's that were fitted and that the BHP had increased by 90 from a standard GTSt. A letter came through from them yesterday asking for an additional premium of just
