Post by sdminus »

This will not mean anything to anybody else but is a vid of my car coming on to boost. It a run from 2.5krpm to 6.5krpm in 3rd gear pulling through both turbos up to 1.1 bar onthe secondary

Is it fast enough on to boost boss LOL,,,,,,,,,

6.5 rpm, mate you've got loads more after that lol

Although probably an optimum shift point.

Are you trying to convert Stu to an RX ? Good on ya mate !!!

how come it goes further round the boost gauge after a few seconds, is that the 2nd turbo coming on song?

can you do a video of a full boost racing gearchange from 3rd to 4th? i will do one from my celica too because the boost comes right back up to 17.5psi damn fast. my mates who all have atmospheric type dump valves cant believe how quick it is :)

Yep,

Standard sequential turbo setup.

You can see a dip as the actuator change point comes up and then full boost occurs.

Not being horrible at all - I love Rex's and yours looks like a nice one - but its fairly irrelevent if you were comparing this to a skyline. Its a bit l;ike a guy with an automatic saying - checkout my rev counter at how quickly I acheive 4000rpm !!

Certainly seems to boost very quickly. Being think (no comments) why is the comparison invalid J?

Well TBH if i had an auto and the revs wound up faster than my manual in the same gear at the same speed then it would make the auto more power full.
Reason being the auto has a longer final drive gear.

So all this in mind i dont understand what you are talking about ??

Any way this was the only way to show him. It wasnt a my dad is bigger than your dad vid.

I didnt think it was a case of "My dad..."

Im not like that. :)

Autoboxes torque converter allows a certain amount of slip, hence why its comparison would be pointless, and sequential turbo setups with minimal power are also pointless in that there application is different and therefore difficult or irrelevent for comparison.

If someone came on and said, my 800bhp single spools up like this and someone else said, well heres a vid of my 800bhp rated twins then thats a direct correlation. If someone were to compare a big turbo - T88 for example - to a pair of twins then that is a indirect but still fair comparison. But sequentials and the way they change over at certain boost and revs and the way this is controlled dont allow for any kind of equivalency.

I hope this makes sense.
