I can vouch for water injection, have it in the Rex and its great for lowering intake temps. Believe that if you wanted to increase the boost you may have to get the car mapped with the wter injection switched on.
Which is good....until you run out. There are a few people who have blown engines (that are mapped to use the water injection on all the time) when their water injection has run out.

Another thing to bear in mind is where you will put the water reservoir, mines in the boot, UK spec mazdacars come with a huge rear wash bottle that holds over 5 litres so it fits oem. Others have tanks in the boot, back seats etc.

Just something to bear in mind, I consider water injection more of a 'safety' mod than a performance one.

Am gonna try 60/40 of methanol to water, some very very good results done on that with intake temps lower than ambient !!!

Scott (sdminus) is a renowned expert on water injection if you decide to go down that route.

Surely big single turbo is the way to go for more power ? If your car is running 400 bhp now and you do the above and max out the N1s at 500 bhp, would you really notice that extra 100 bhp ? Am presuming low down you wont say under 60 mph but above that you probably will. Wouldnt have thought it would make that much difference.

What about reducing some of the weight of the Skyline instead ?

Or fitting some better brakes ?!!!!!!!?

Stu....

1. A "proper" ECU controller to give you the ability to map it properly for fuel so that you can get the best out of each component already there without loading more stuff on. That will reveal the next step forwards.

2. discs, pads, hoses - power is nothing without being able to stop ;)

3. money in the pot for Jahreskarte :D

logged a couple of laps on sunday and my intake temps were at ambient and even 1 degree below at one point :D

Stu - another addition to the list below:

4. a way of getting cold air into your engine rather than sucking in hot engine bay air.

Some good points there
Last time I checked on fleabay the price differentials between standard power FC and Djetro versions wasn't great, maybe

Hahahahahaaaaaaaaa

:D :D :D

The extra hundred brake is noticeable, but in fairness I used to do this just for a laugh on the boost controller.

Off was 470bhp
Low was 540bhp
High was 600bhp

The kick up the arse at 150mph from 470 to 600 was quite impressive as it goes !!

If you want light weight and cheap then your only option is to talk to Gary at Japsalon. Although you could easily blow your 4k budget in order to save 150kg's.

Just so you know....

Doors are around 60kg's each
Bonnets are already Aluminium and unless you get true autoclaved type carbon you wont save more than 2-3kg's swapping bonnets (which is ironic as thats what most people with GTR's do, and then extole the virtues of weight loss !!)
Boots weigh a fair bit - the rear spoilers are heavy, not sure on a 32, but 34 rear uprights alone are 10kilos each :o :o :o
Depends on whether you then want to start losing things like aircon !!!

In the orange we saved around 60kgs from the front end removing lights, aircon, pullies etc etc

A 150kg saving would mean about 10% kerbweight,
However a 10% increase in power even when you already have 413 is only another 41bhp

So whilst the weight saving is good and handy for nimbleness on track and a noble thing that gives a different conversation to normal down't'pub just concentrate more on power at this point as the rewards are greater !!!

Besides, its your website and it aint called "Stueys Lightweights .co.uk" - for obvious reasons !!!

:D :D :D

the weight thing does always make me chuckle when you see how much time and money is put into weight saving then look at the driver.

PowerFC D-Jetro isn't really any more expensive to buy than the standard version (cheaper when you factor in the fact that you don't need to buy bigger AFMs).

The problem with the GTR is the pesky throttle bodies, MAP sensors don't like them very much so it makes the mapping a bit more difficult (expensive). However it'll also get rid of the annoying 'shuffle' that you get with the AFMs...
