Are you still going for the 450 figure Dunc?

Induction looks good m8 8) 8) .............I wasn't quite so subtle and just had the whole headlight removed, I was going to use mesh but the gap is big enough for a monkjack to jump into...lol

Judging by the amount of time you spend at Zaks, it may be sooner rather than later 8)

Couple of things to consider.

Theres little point retaining a top mount intercooler for this power level - therefore there is little point having an air scoop on the bonnet that will just slow you down.

GBH are in the middle of doing an EJ25 swap for a chap with a dead scoob at the moment with a few bits and bobs and that should be getting 400+ without too much money spent on it, so I will keep you posted on how it goes if you like. Engines just been built this week as it happens.

My engine's existing standard internals will not be able to cope with that power level (or not for longer than a few days) so will have to set aside some time/money for a stronger bottom end.

Lichfields get 415 out of the Type 25 without too much hassle with a Top Mount. http://www.type-25.co.uk so I see 450 as being acheivable without going into FMIC territory - I may stand corrected though.

I would love to know what happens with that transplant James :)

Awesome - I'd like a ride at somepoint - because 450 in a scooby is going to be shocking !!!.

Hi Duncan,

Sorry i havent been around much lately.

Bob at GBH informs me that the 2.5 conversion was a doddle, went together very well and the owner is currently running it in and already reports that its more lusty even off boost than the old one was with boost.

I realise you can get away with the Top Mount, but personally i would feel so much happier with FMIC especially for serious track or sprint work where temps are liekly to be the difference between the engine lasting or going tits quite quickly. Heat soak would be my number1 concern rather than whether its still technically efficient for that flowrate.

Just my 2p though.

Speak to you more on the 8th.

J.

Thanks J - there a few bits going on over the weekend and monday/tuesday next week along with revisions to mapping to take it to the next stage - hopefully around 360 bhp & 370 lb/ft but maybe more dependant on how well it reacts to the decat.

I will also have the invaluable air temp gauge fitted as use that as a guide for how the inetrnals are working.

Had a great conversation with Pavlo at Zen today re turbos and has brought more clarity to the future direction and performance targets for the car yet still keeping it as a car that can be got in and driven to sainsbury's by the missus (so long as she parks it in a safe place ;) )

The 360 (ish) stage will give me other pointers and highlight further weaknesses with the braking system which started to show their head at Cadwell with brake judder from early stages of warping under heat (i believe) along with suspension improvement which I will sort before taking more power onboard.

I do think that you are right and that a FMIC will eventually be fitted there but will continue to push the envelope without it for the moment as the lessons learnt, I think, will stand me in good stead for understanding what works and why.
