Just seen this.

Spunds like fun, assuming the original plan comes back to life !!

I will happily help out in any way. At the very least I could give some setup advice !! :D :D

Latest

The Sierra will be on the receiving end of some minor refresh work for the forthcoming trackday season. A full service will be followed by some structural work to the cage to make the whole thing a lot more rigid.

Image

I need to get the existing Safety Devices cage welded up to the A and B frame pillars using roll cage braces to stiffen up the cage and chassis. A bit like this

I then want door bars running from A pillar to B pillars as shown above. Lastly I want a rear cross bar for the area from the top of the rear cage at roof level down to the rear pick up points on the suspension turrets. This next picture probably goes a bit further than I can afford or need, but it gives you an idea.

I will obviously be adding a fair bit of weight here and I intend to improve the power accordingly This will have to be later in the year as most of my funds are going towards the GTR first, with the XR4x4 playing second fiddle for now.

I have decided that the chassis needs to be a lot stiffer before I start going for more power. The Sierra is 16 years old and the planned order for mods is as follows;

Strengthen chassis - improve cage as described
Improve suspension - only have basic Spax adjustables on at the moment. They don't feel precise enough at the limit and I intend to be on the limit quite a lot this year! Probably swap for Avo/Gaz coilovers. Cheap (enough) and will provide far more control over set up.
More power - As discussed in Pablo/Barts thread, I cannot afford the sort of money it takes to spend

Not until I know whether you can drive or not. I've only ever seen you on the A11 :)
