Damn skeaky huh. Well its their cockup, tell them, if you hadda know'm that you would have to pay then you would have gone to RAC instead. They dont have a leg to stand on ' the customer is always right' By law you dont have to pay. It would be classed as false advertising.
RAC will do it theres one in Thetford and they do a better job too. You dont have to be a member.

Each insurance company has an approved repair company that they deal with e.g. Autoglass or Rac. If you use a company that your insurance do not approve then you are going to get a bill. I know Rac do not deal with certain insurance companies but will do the work and charge for it. I have known some customers to pay the bill and then claim back off their car insurance. Autoglass should of told you that they do not deal with your particular insurance company. If they havn,t then its down to them to sort things out. Did the repairs come out ok?

they said at the time that there would be no charge, the repair's don't look any different you can still see the crack, he said that there strong but they have dirt in then so that's why you can still see them.

I nearly got caught out by this recently - When I booked with them they told me they worked with my insurance company - so the guy was about to start - then they realised they were wrong and were happy to continue if I was willing to pay ...... I decided I wanted it free ... and then went to the RAC windscreen guys as they were infact the nominated window people for my policy.

It's tricky .... I think they are just keen to get you in ...
