Evo or skyline?

Post by boxy »

When I was looking for a new car I had the option of buying an Evo or Skyline, I loved the look of the Skyline but there was something about the presence of the Evo 8. I plumbed for the Skyline but would like to know what I am missing out on, not choosing the Evo?

Depends on which version of the Evo or Skyline.

Like the Evo 7s and 8s and R32s and 34s.

Doh just noticed you have an R33, they are nice also !!

Tough decision though mate, think the Skyline for me just does it (Sorry Rob)

I think you need to establish a firm budget and also be as honest as you can about what you want to use if for. Once you've done that your decision will be a lot easier.
So come om, how much do you want to spend?

well in all honesty I`m nott changing my old gal until she`s finished, which might be a while. Just trying to get a feel of what to get next. I do miss the flat four rumble from my old wrx and can tell ones coming a mile away. The evo`s unfortunately never seem to change shape at all even though I like it. Whats the power delivery like on the Evo compared to the Subaru and skyline?

For starters you may be in danger of comparing apples to oranges. I would say that Evos and Imprezas compare for obvious reasons, but a Skyline, particularly a twin turbo is quite different. I'm not saying or inferring better or worse, but very different. The straight six of the Skyline is very smooth as you know and the twin turbo has the punch of an Impreza with the top end strength of a higher capacity car, which in some cases it is. Their handling is even further apart and thats just standard models, let alone tweaked ones. All these brands have their strengths and weaknesses, their pros and cons. You'll really only know by driving as many as you can of each type.

Cheers Stu, so who`s going to lend me an Evo for the day so I can test one out? Any takers? I think I a ride in the twin Turbo Skyline will probably make my mind up. Decisions, decisions or so I just try and get the bhp up as high as I can with the GTst.
