Maybe he and a few others haven't got the disposable income you obviously have Dunc, or its directed elsewhere! .....Just a thought

if it were disposable income then I think Gareth would have 'had' the most disposable - he has fixed that now and bought a house so is now in the same boat as me and most others

I take it that bought = buying like myself and many others?.. unless he's really fortunate ! ....ALL I'm saying is that yes in the perfect world we would all be driving Porsche GT3's and use them every week on a track which they were 'designed' for!.. oh and a very understanding wife

.....Unfortunately in the real world this is not the case for most people and we have to make do with car that don't take to kindly to constant abuse ......example - 25 mins on a track in my car equalled new disks, pads brake fluid and a misfire that took 2 months to sort out, but most of all it deprived me from using my pride and joy for 3 months......so for me yes I'm a little shy in putting my car through that too 'often.'

I am not wanting to argue the point about what damage is done to cars when taking on track - that is your prerogative to choose not to. I do take mine on track. Many others do, but not everyone has to. The jibe at Gareth was simply that - a jibe which he understands and is long running - I fully understand how much effort he has put into his car

Dont take this the wrong way.

I havent got millions of pounds, quite the opposite but I do have an understanding wife and a desire to enjoy myself - this is what I do and I work bloody hard to afford the things that I can afford. As anyone that works for themselves would agree, it isnt a 9-5 thing and I am always working at 7.30am and most often into late evening and weekends too.

I understand that it was just banter towards Gareth, I just used that because to me and some others, the club seems to be shifting towards the use it or loose it mentality. Some people are broaching this by buying shall we say less desirable cars (well to me anyway) and turning them into track cars, seemingly just to conform.......Maybe (I might be wrong) this is the reason why the monthly meet attendance has declined ?? ....Personally most of the appeal of the monthly meets was chatting to other owners of 'desirable' or interesting cars and exchanging notes.

Hats off to you though Duncan, for 'doing what you do'.... and no doubt if I didn't have so many different things that I enjoy as much as my GTO I would probably do the same :thumb:

For me, I'd love to use my car a bit more often on track days, but last year it was off the road a lto and this year it looks as though finances are going to dictate a lack of action up until springtime...

For me its not a lack of wanting to use it, its being unable to!

Also with regards the point about 'desirable' cars at meets, although it must be great fun to strip out an older classic sports car for track fun, car meets made up predominantly of this type of car would put me off coming.

But mainly I don't come to many as its a bit far! :lol:
