Am putting a new HKS twin plate in my GTR very soon and was just wondering if anyone has taken a Skyline GTR gearbox off and would share any tips with me to make life easier for me.
I have taken a fair few gearboxes off before but was wondering if there was any tricks of the trade with this one?
Cheers.
Any tips on taking a GTR box off?
i've done it before, the worst thing was the two top bellhouse bolts and realigning and refitting the box/input shaft.
When i did it i undid the gearbox mount etc so that the box and engine pivoted back on the engine mounts which made it easier to get to.
Must say if i ever needed to do it again i'd take the engine and box out in one lump.

No the splines have to be matched in both plates or the gearbox will not go in. You remove the top starter bolt with the rear mount on the gearbox, then drop it down to do the top gearbox bolts with a socket and extension323ian wrote:
A clutch aligning tool can be used as your dummy input shaft can it not?
