R32 GTR Power FC D Jetro running rich on part throttle?

Post by Monster »

Ok I know there's some very knowledgeable people on here re mapping and ecu's so here goes my novice mappers question.

The R32 GTR has the MAF free PFC on it. First map session since engine done worked on full throttle stuff etc and thats fine, as is general running/driving (I did have a base map to start with tbh) but now getting big probs with part throttle and not getting much help from the people I would have thought would know.

Basically if you run the car through the revs on part throttle, or for example hold it steady throttle as you would through a corner on track, it richens right up to a flat 10 on the AFR then fluffs up. I haven't really tried yet to rectify it but have been told "thats a d jetro, they're shit cos they all do that and there's nothing you can do to stop it". which a, I didn't think was much help, and B, not sure i believe,

I'm yet to go into the PFC forums etc but have also heard there are settings in there which may sort it.

The car will be purely for track use and traillered once it's all sorted so i'm not looking for a map that will commute me to into the city for work but the way it is on the road will not work on track at mo.

Again, maybe stoopid questions but i'm a bit new to all this so as well as dig the forums I thought it worth an ask....?

before I move on to the second question, which is: Is it possible to get HKS 2540s to give full boost before 5200rpm on an rb26, and if so what do I do cos I haven't experienced that kind of lag since Gran Turismo 1 came out and I put the biggest possible turbo on the car once i had enough money... :)

cheers

I run a D-Jetro, mapped at APT. Never had any issues so the comment above is bollocks whoever said it. Only rime of running rich was when the vac feed to the MAP sensor split.

Does it matter what revs/load you hold it at to make it rich? Not saying I can help, but it might help someone else :)

the problem with map sensors on gtr is has individual throttle bodys which means theres little vac produced when on light throttle, theres ways around it with power fc but will never be as good as say the map we did on drifters 200sx

EVO 7 with 2300cc,GT35,HKS 272's,1000cc,MOTEC...the list goes on..

well your one gives me hope drfiter :D
it's most noticable if you run it up through the revs on a relatively light throttle, or you hold say 4500 as I did round the oval end of a large roundabout last night, it goes to 10, then fluffs and won't pull cleanly when you gun it again till it's cleared itself

Cheers Gary, I had heard it was more a problem on the gtr than others. But hearing there are ways around it or to minimise it is is encouraging as it MUST be able to run better than it is.
