would you believe these intake temps accurate?

Post by andycaca »

ive just been out in my car for the first time in 6 weeks, now ive got new brake lines
anyway, when it was off the road i fitted two temperature sensors, one inside the airfilter and the other in a blanking cap in the head.

just drove back from bury on the A14, then came along the B roads to home, where my airfilter temperature was 22.6C, and the charge temp in the head was 14.4C

thats running 1 to 1.3bar, through a whopping great 800x600x100 FMIC.

how does this compare with your measurements? dunc etc, i know you love datalogging ;)

is that a typical kind of temperature drop, or are my sensors lying to me?
my previous charge temp sensor was plumbed into the IC piping directly ontop of the head and was reading 26C - ive always suspected this to be inaccurate due to heatsoak

think the airfilter temp sensor is telling porkies

was 7C outside this afternoon and allowing for a bit of warming of the air would expect no more than 10-11C in the filter.

The FMIC sensor sounds about right if it a whopper..:D

Sounds about right to me.

HIs readings sound right to me. Your air temp sensor duncan doesn't measure the ambient under the bonnet, but the air that is fed into the airbox from the "trumpet" and your intake mod.

These results are consistent if the ambient temp of the air going through the I/C was below 10
