Hi all.
Had a track day with the 200sx owners club on Sunday at Snetterton. Was the first time on track with the Nitrons, ARBs and 6 pots so was quite excited to see what difference they would make.
I had the dampening set 6 clicks from the hardest front and rear to start and adjusted the tyre pressures to 30 all round when hot.
Straight away it was clear the car is so much flatter and more confident in the corners. Turn in was excellent and mid corner corrections were just so accurate and really fun. The feedback through the wheel was exceptional.
I had a real big issue with understeer last time. This was vastly reduced but still present on the hairpin corners. I adjusted the dampening so that the front was a little softer and the rear was harder. This helped but it was still understeering at the hairpin before the back straight (200 track). I think this is probably now down to the 225s at the front.
All in all, very very impressed with the car. It is so nice to drive, very fast in the corners and feedback is really great. Oh, and the brakes....fantastic. I was giving them a real beating and there was no hint of fade.
So a few more things to do to solve the understeer issue:
- Get 255s up front
- Get adjustable camber top mounts and dial in more camber (3 deg)
- Get rear adjustable arms and dial in more camber
I will also need a secondary fuel pump setup at some point as the car was getting fuel starvation under half a tank which was very annoying.
Here is a flyby that my mate took. Its actually pretty quiet with the AC backbox. Ran 92 static. These was another M3 there with a guttered stock box. Was very loud and sounded really nice but I think he struggled with the static reading which at Snetterton is pretty high at 105db.
