mk1 mr2 supercharged

Post by lolek »

hi people.

Thought I would start a thread about my mr2 that Ive bought. various drunken texts and alchohol and ebay dont mix.......... Anyway heres my mk1 mr2 sc which has snapped its sc belt which also runs the water pump which resulted in over heating and a blown head gasket, The body work on her is pretty good for the year, shes had work done and a respray which i believe was around 2006. Ive started pulling the engine apart (theres not much room) I decided to just take the head off while in the car but think its best to get the engine out due to lack of space and its blown lots of oil out and made a big mess. Im looking at doing a few little tweeks to raise bhp mainly by raising the boost. just need to get the head off to see what damage is done.
Will get some photos up when i work out how.

Hi Lolek
Are you the guy who was with Ian and the V6 VW at the Marham trackday during the summer , i was there in the old Chevy . Sounds like an interesting car you have and good luck with the engine . Pete:Chevy_anim:

That's him Pete :)

Should be a real giggle Lloyd. Quick cars, great handling, lovely steering- what's not to like? (Apart from not fitting in one, body rust, hard to find :D )

Photos can be linked to here via Photobucket or similar if that helps. Once you've uploaded them on Photobucket, just use the IMG links and paste that into your post.

The Mk1 is a great little car but they are getting on a bit now so issue are to be expected. I hope you find it is just the head gasket gone. Depending on the mileage it will be worth checking the bearing and rings out if you are taking the block out.

If the engine need significant work the 3s-gte units come cheap these days ;-)

I found it amusing :) my brother didn't :(

You can imagine the conversation after the policeman handed the phone over...

Bro: is it badly damaged?
Me: don't know, really sorry bro...
Bro: what do you mean you don't know, look at it!
Me I can't it's upside down...

I wasn't very popular...
