Smoke on Over Run

Post by hoodedreeper »

Got the turbo all fitted to the car, took it on a drive so my friend could tune the MegaSquirt on the go. It drives and boosts fine. Once your in boost and either let off the throttle or change gear,it puffs out some blue smoke.

If i'm approaching a set of lights, and i'm slowing down in gear (doesnt matter which gear) it'll pour out.

Its oil,but cant see why its doing it? I've checked the oil level numerous times and its full (had oil & filter change about 2 months when the car was 'off the road' for the conversion).

The Garrett is brand new,its never been ran. Cant be oil seals as i'm sure it'd smoke ALL the time.

Gaskets are brand new when i fitted the turbo (manifold to head, manifold to turbo, turbo to downpipe). Surely it wouldnt blow a gasket straight away when we first drove it.

Piston rings or valve stem seals seems to be the other options

Opinions?

Did you prime the new turbo and the oil feed pipe and is the drain to sump clear. If so could be stem seals/guides or blow by the rings or just breathing heavy.
