Has the tank got a separate sump tank or just an external filter? I just can not keep my tank clean as the external filter doesn't seem to do much.

It's got 2 external Fluval 305's Tony. I clean them often and replace the carbon every few weeks or so. Can't say i've ever had a problem with water quality in the new tank or my old 240ltr.

I've got 1 x 305 but it doen't seem to take anything out as every time I clean the filters they don't seem to be very dirty. I did try rigging up an under gravel system to it but that just kept blocking up.

I still use a 305 in my 240ltr at the water is crystal clear & even after a week the foam filters are filthy. What size tank/fish have you got?

It's a 100ltr Fluval tank 1m x 0.5m x 0.5m I've probably got to many fish in it as I've got a silver shark, a silver dollar, a cat fish, a pleque, a paki loach and about 6 smaller fish. I've got an internal filter in the tank as well as the external and that is always dirty when I clean it.
