I am sure this will have been raised elsewhere but have run out of patience trying to find it on the forum.
There is nothing wrong with the CPs fitted to my car but they do in general appear to be an area of weakness on early Subaru Classics (mine is a 1994 WRX) so I was wondering if it is feasible to install the ignition system from a later model year.
If so what is involved, is it a DIY job or one needing specialist knowledge tools etc any advice would be gratefully received
Upgrading Classic Subaru Coil Pack Ignition
they only deteriorate through age.........not because they dont/cant work.......at best they are approx 15yr old now
personally if/when you do have an issue install a new set and they will outlive the car

Harry stick with the coil packs as said just buy new ones once bolted in they will give no trouble.
The old ones get brital and when taken in and out because of the position of engine the ends get hair line cracks in and start sparking round the inside of the spark plug tube in the head.
If you wonted to go to plugs and leads you would have to do a loom change from a 97/98 ecu including inlet manifold injecters and turbo not worth it .
