v power shortage

Post by garetgax »

Just wondered if you guys are suffering the same problem we are in the midlands where all the shell garages have run out of v-power apparently due to an issue at the refinery. As Marham is in month a bit worried that may not be able to do the event if theres no v-power or at least tesco 99 available as its a tank of fuel each way just to get there for me let alone what I use during the day etc.
Arsenal is life the rest is mere detail.

Shell are making every excuse under the Sun. When we were at Cadwell they told us it was because of the F1. This fellow told us that they had run short due to Ferrari nabbing it all :D

We had a problem at Cadwell. We stopped at the Shell garage in Horncastle and the V-Power pumps were out of use. When I asked the guy in the shop he told me that there was no V-Power in the country and he was showing only 300 odd litres in the tanks. However, he very kindly let the three of us top up our tanks with what he had.

With the prospect of not getting anymore V-Power and no Tesco 99 within reach of Cadwell, the track day was a bit of a Miss Daisy affair and I only used half a tank. On the way home, I was running on fumes by the time I got to the next Shell station on the A1, south of Peterborough and expected to have to fill up on 95. As I pulled up to the pump, everything was as normal and the V-Power pumps were in full operation.

Is there really a shortage then? There's no problem with getting Tesco 99 it seems.

How much octane booster would you need to prop up Sainsbury or Esso 97? I'd go for Esso 97 after V-Power or Tesco 99. Wouldn't touch BP Ultimate unless I wanted to test a knock sensor.

I'm ok, I'm sure my golf can run on lighter fluid / whiskey / aftershave / vodka ... but the GTR .. doh .. that's another story.
