bigpower noob!

Post by DaveV6 »

Hi ,im Dave Ive been slowly morphing my 03 mg zs 180 into a track car over the last couple of years as funds allow.Might have already bumped into some of you as i do trackdays as often as i can, anyone remeber a grey zs 180 ?
My cars not powerfull ,only about 210 bhp but ive mainly concentrated on weight saving and making it handle so its getting pretty quick round a lap .
I live at notts so donington is about my favourite track but i like to visit combe occasionally too and i visited bedford autodrome in january for the first time, only did 2 x 20 minute sessions before clutch pipe failed and i had to drive home 100 miles with no clutch ...that was fun :o i got down to 2min 56/57 lap though and got held up in one corner at that.
best lap time at donny national is 1.25's and 1.21's at combe but cars spec changing all the time so i expect both to be a bit quicker when i get back on track.
Got loads of onboard track vids if anyones interested.
Driving flat out on track is what i love ,dont know how to go slow ,had a couple of race karts for few years so learnt a lil bit from that.
Tbh ,im a member of a few forums but im getting a bit bored with the normal threads about lexus lights ,which induction is best, what polish do you use,ctr versus clio 172 etc ,so im here hoping for a big fix of real petrol head track talk. 8)

Track talk is well supported here whilst talk of lexus lights seems to be the quickest thing to get people banned other than text type :D

Please upload some vids (in the relevant section) 1'25" at Donny is pretty good, particularly with that power level, presuming that you don't run slicks etc etc. We try to self regulate in terms of avoiding bullshit (helps to keep idiots out) so any claims of BHP, lap times and the like need supporting evidence where possible.

This helps the site maintain its credibility and avoid pub style bragging.

Welcome to the forum Dave

Nice to have British car on the tracks :thumb:

thanks for the welcome 8)

ill post some vids
Best time i have at donny on video is 1.27 from about summer last year iirc ,i went again about oct i think it was with full coilovers added and 30/40 kilo weight loss and i got down to high 1.25's .
That was with Toyo R888 tyres ,never run road tyres now tbh.
Dave
