328i Sport track project - Cadwell June 09

Having sold my Accord Type R at Christmas in order to get a more track dedicated car, I've finally bought a 328i Sport. This was after literally sleepless nights of deliberating over an E30 vs E36. An E36 M3 was in the running at one point but that fizzled out when, on the day I went to pick it up, it was trashed into a wall by a young valeter!

This is actually a co-ownership project between myself and a best friend and will see us do 3 trackdays this year and a trip to the Ring. The car will go on its first trackday very soon in near standard form (change of pads) just to get to grips with what we've bought. Then we'll do a part strip and throw on some KW's for the next event.

I hope to meet some of you (for the first time!) in the coming year.

Cheers for the replies. First outing will be some time in Feb or early March. I'm just waiting for my friend's dates so we can sort something out and get it booked. The second outing will be RAF Marham in April - I've signed up via the ATR forum.

Ordered some cryogenically treated Nitrac discs today (http://www.nitrac.co.uk/). I've heard various reports about these - some good, some OK. Thought I'd give them a spin (excuse the pun).

They'll be going into the 'deep freeze' this weekend and I should have them by next Friday - just in time for a trackday at Bedford on Saturday.

Great choice in car.Dont do as I did first outing in my 1997 m3 evo saloon i went and stuffed it straight into the armco barrier at Snetterton.

I've now ordered some PF 97 compound pads from the ever helpful Alyn at AS Performance and we've now finally made up our minds re the suspension. Cheap and cheerful was the key so next week I'll be ordering some GAZ GHA coilovers although, in fact, it's not a true coilover on the rear but a shock and separate adjustable spring.

Richard, sorry to hear about your misfortune with your M3 Evo. Luckily Bedford (on Saturday) literally doesn't have anything to crash into. It will be a great place to learn the traits of the car.
