How on earth do you remove a stereo from an R32

Post by Ben »

Got me scratching my head - I beleive that my car has a factory fitted Alpine stereo, I thought i'll bin that and fit my new Ipod head unit.

Initially I tried the removal pins - nothing, so I've removed the front fascia of the dash which allows me to see the stereo surround - so I've removed the bolts that were attached to the bracket that the stereo seems to be bolted too.

But the damned thing is still locked solid ... where else to they bolt these damned things !!! ... Is my only resort to remove the whole console?.

Have you checked behind the head unit?

On my sunny there is like a rubber thing which is wedged into a hole.

Tom, you can't get to the back ... it's a tight old fit .... however reading what Jay posted on GTR in 2004 it would seem I have futher screws to remove from inside the ashtray hole !! ..

:S I'm lost then, you could just give it a small yank and try and see where it is holding on most.

I'm heading up city in a bit if you need a hand i could stop by before work.

They are a pain. You have to unscrew all the boltsvisible, then you can slide it out, you will struggle to get it past the clocks but a twist on the top edge of the brackets it will come.

Once out there is only 4 little bolts holding on to the bracket.

Pop round I will do it :-D

Leave it up the south end of Great Yarmouth for a few hours.

Kosovo car audio were still trading the last time i looked, they'll have it out for you in a jiffy and you won't even need to be around when they do it.
