Good FIA Approved Bolt in Cage - Impreza

Post by blacky »

Maybe one for our traders to have a look into.

After a bolt in cage, that doesn't require the dash cutting, and is FIA Approved so I can pass Scrutineering easily at Sprints.

Defo a good idea Dunc :!:

Also, so is on event insurance

Problem with Custom built ones is that they are rarely FIA approved, so its then at the decresion (spelling?) of the scrutineer at each event :!:

Think our man Alyn at ASP has to be worth a call on this one :D

could be worth a look on the http://www.rollcentre.co.uk they give certificates for there fia cages and are very reasonably priced, only problem with them is you have to wait weeks for your order to be built.

I've got a Safety Devices cage ready to go in soon. Managed to get a second hand one but still needed to get the weld in brackets.

Okay thanks gerry, you planning on welding yours in then??

problem is, I pretty much need to sort 1 in the next 2 weeks, as when the cars in bits its gonna be easier to install the cage!

I need to make the decision to strip it all out and then the cage brackets can be welded in. Trouble is, I like my creature comforts too much!

Hmm, yes, I missed the fact you need to reinforce the mounting points with plates, can't you weld them under the floor skin on the outerside?

As I am planning on keeping a full interior with the cage.

Did you get your plates direct from safery devices?

Yes you can Blacky, I did with the Sierra. The plates came as part of the 'kit' from SD but I have no idea whether they still do as I bought mine back in 2003. If they are not included anymore they are a very simple fabrication job (for a man of your calibre) or you can buy them from someone Rally Design.
