Does seem a little odd in that case if there are no significant gains to be had using the 3 port. Makes sense though really as the WR1 isn't exactly a country mile away from a normal UK STi

Subaru went from a 2 port to a 3 port solenoid about MY99 iirc. What's the difference between the Prodrive unit and OE, other than price?

They went back to a 2 port the year after iirc Gerry.

The standard unit is a 2 port where the compressor and wastegate pipes are T'ed together with a restrictor pill in the pipe to the wastegate. With the 2 port the wastegate always sees some pressure and depending on the strength of the wastegate arm it may never be 100% open.

The 3 port bypasses the wastegate until pressure is needed to open it.

okay - I may have been hasty in my 'dissing' this modification.

It does seem to hold marginally more boost higher up the rev range and spool a fraction of a fraction quicker. Not a lot in it yet but more changes to the maps and there may be a benefit after all with this turbo.

With a turbo change it will definitely have a benefit.

Nice to keep up to date on this project mate, you really seem to have got stuck into the mapping now, fair play on that.
Keep up the good work, it was an awesome car when i had a pax ride!

Down side is it kept my rear view mirror filled when i floored the Skyline on the road and i have an extra 600cc! :(
