You're a great driver Logan, no matter what car, and I'm sure that you could turn up in my Golf and do Ok. If you could reach the pedals

* That's the only compliment you're getting mate. The rest have to be won ;)

Oh dear oh dear Gerry :!:

I will bite at the Evo comments, being a person who has tried to pilot bothe the Subaru and the Evo I would have to say that i reckon I could be just as quick in the Subaru from the times I was getting last year in my Impreza, the Evo is a veery capable car and I feel its less twitchy/edgy than the Impreza, but I reckon no less quicker than the Evo 6, no idea about the 9 as Kim's has mega fancy diffs
Surely being less twitchy/edgy is bound to give you more confidence in the car's ability and therefore the confidence to push it more. Also the oil and fuel surge issues that can dog Imprezas just doesn't apply with the Evo, again allowing you to concentrate more on the job at hand. It all adds up :)

Time for me to have a mini rant (not that it's gonna get me anywhere :) )
The last 10% of people to be scrutineered forfited their chance to have a convoy run; sadly i got shafted by this!
Most events have 60-120 entrants & run 2 scrutineering bays, Abingdon had 180 odd entries & 2 bays so were never going to get every competitor done before they wanted to start the convoy run. When I asked the clark of the Abingdon course how i was supposed to take the convoy run, he said that i should have left my car with the scrutineers & used my road car, when i'm competing in roadgoing  I was in the queue for scrutineering at about 8:05 & was 2 cars from the front before the briefing at 8:45 & left everything ready to be scrutinized & during the briefing there was no progress made with the backlog of cars awaiting scrutineering. From scrutineering & signing on there is no chance of being able to see that the convoy run is about to start, so whoever is still down there will have to have a sixth sense to know what's going on. I think the reason they make such a song & dance about the 1 & only convoy run in the briefing is becasue they know people get shafted by this! What a sensible way of organising things in such a way that as an organiser you know that people are going to be doing competitive driving totaly blind!

At the time I was very frustrated that i felt i had done nothing to deserve it, but felt at a disadvantage. Having never been round the course before I was very tempted to do my first practice at 20 MPH as my own sighting lap so i had a chance of spotting crappy bits of track, pick lines, breaking points Etc.
Not sour grapes towards any of my fellow competitors, but i feel given a level playing field i would have been faster.

(end on mini rant, but i do feel a letter coming on)

Are you allowed to take a push bike on these things? May be a way of getting around quicker.........

It was along way for me to travel in the morning, so i decided that i wouldn't need to set of at 5:15 in order to leave time to walk the course & i could have another 30 mins in bed :) Mainly because it said in the regs there would be a convoy run.

Also a fold up bike is on the shopping list, but as it doesn't make my car go faster i can't bring myself to spend the money :-D

It's one of thoes "Shit Happens" moments, but at the time i was cheesed off & i think underperformed dut to driving blind (& having a bit of a strop on).

Sorry to hear you suffered with the same problem TK, there also were 3 other guys in our class who also missed the convoy (Jim in the gold TR8, Mike in the black MR2 & Adam in the white GT4).

If i'm in the same position next year I'll be abandoning scrutineering in favour of getting on the convoy run, that or we'll have to go round 5's up in Logans Evo :P

I missed the convoy too but as I'd done the vent last year, had an idea of where I was going. Last year however, I hadn't much of a clue as to what was what and just joined the first convoy queue I saw. This turned out to be my pm course.

I'd have thought the results would have been out by now.

I swear by a trusty Brompton fold up treader in the boot for unfamiliar tracks. Also helps at lunchtime as Logan will confirm after Bentwaters. Sometimes walking will take too long so is not possible.

Track time is so limited in sprinting that everything you can do to get sight of the circuit out of the car has to be worth doing even if - and apologies if I rile Russell - it means getting out of bed a bit earlier.

Aningdon is a law unto itself not helped by the one of the organiser's stunning arrogance , ego the size of Belgium and love of the sound of his own voice. It should be made clear that if you are not done with the scroots go grab a ride in another road car for the convoy. Anyone who wants to jump in my evo is more than welcome. The Adams sprinting masterclass is available free for all those not in B3...

At some tracks a convoy is compulsory to comply with MSA rules but at Abingdon this is probably not the case as you get two practices on both courses.

Apart from anything else sprinting is one discipline where fat ol' bastards like me can still win as I have probably been around the tracks a few more times than the talented, braver and younger newcomers.

Wait 'til Logan and and the other 20 or 30 somethings are in their second or third seasons and see 'em fly....

I'm planning hanging up my flameproof rompers already.

Kim

PS Well chuffed with win as I have not done well at Abingdon previously. Obviously I am not happy about losing on the second course... but then if I was why am I doing this?
